In conjunction with the school holiday, University Malaysia of Computer Science and Engineering (UniMy) had successfully organised "Hybrid Mobile App Development Camp" and "HTML & CSS Camp" from 8 December to 9 December 2016 and 13 December to 14 December 2016 respectively. In total, both camps attracted 32 participants from different secondary schools.
The camps aimed to increase the awareness of coding skills and to attract more young talents to pursue their interests in digital technology. The 2 to 3 days intensive camps was conducted by an experience industry instructor, which provides highly engaging and hands-on activities for beginners with little to no experience in programming. Participants were taught on how to build various types of applications by using relevant programming languages, tools, and technologies. They also had the opportunity to work with peers in groups and to experience the learning environment in a university.
At the end of the camps, the participants provided very positive feedbacks and support the continuation of such coding camps. The Programming4Future Camps 2016 was indeed a success and had created an excellent opportunity for us as well as the parents to understand the young generation’s perception on ICT and digital technology. We hope to organise more similar events in the future.
