On 23 December 2015, our Student Representative Council (SRC) members, together with other SRCs from local universities were invited to attend a program about the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) for a better understanding of the agreement that was signed by the government. The program was held at Dewan Serbaguna II, Level 1, Menara MITI in Kuala Lumpur and were mainly attended by representatives from universities as well as many other organizations who joined the program such as the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), and the host of the program, the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI).
Our SRC members; Vice President Ms. Eunice Wong Yian Eun, Vice of Finance Ms. Ang Yan Jun, Vice of Academic Mr. Mohd Nazri Syah Sani and Vice of Activity Mr. Eikma Rizal Saharuddin represented UniMy for the TPPA Understanding Program (Program Penerangan). The special guest, YB Dato’ Sri Mustafa Mohamed, the Minister of International Trade and Industry, was given the honour to be in charge of this program to answer many queries raised during its session. The program ended with a photo session and a sponsored lunch banquet with other private institutions.
It was a privilege to be apart of a different surrounding outside of the normal classroom environment and get involved directly with the economics of our nation. A minor problem is that the news for time slot of the program was brought forward a little late, and it would be better if it was informed earlier to the representatives in the near future for other programs. However, overall it was a valuable experience for the representatives involved.
