University Malaysia of Computer Science & Engineering (UniMy), an authorized academy partner of CompTIA (a leading provider of higher quality, vendor-neutral content and certifications for IT professionals from all over the globe), is offering certification courses as part of the electives courses for students who are undertaking Computer Science and Software Engineering programmes.

On 30 March 2016, UniMy had successfully organised an industrial talk titled “Hack, Detect and Secure Your Network!”. The talk, which was attended by degree students, aimed to provide valuable insights and understanding of the latest trends in cybersecurity.

The invited speaker, Mr. Meisam Eslahi, who has more than 12 years experiences in the field of cybersecurity, is a CompTIA certified technical trainer specialised in cybercrimes detection and prevention. Currently, he is actively playing the role of information security and digital forensics researcher and consultant.

During the talk, Mr. Meisam Eslahi gave a brief introduction to cybersecurity by giving short descriptions on computer security, type of attackers, network architecture, and ethical hacking phases. To make the talk interesting, he shared a lot of real life examples regarding cyberattacks and incidents that happened in recent years. He also gave a live demonstration of some tools and ways that attackers may use.

The talk was ended with a ‘Question and Answer’ session, where the students took the opportunity to direct questions to Mr. Meisam Eslahi. Overall, the students were impressed with the clarity and expertise demonstrated by the speaker, and also voiced their eagerness to opt for CompTIA certification courses such as CompTIA Network+ and CompTIA Security+, which will be offered by the University.
